Africa’s pop music sensation, Wizkid, is every girl’s Fresh Prince but his heart and his eyes are not open to them. His heart, he confessed, has just been broken by his ex-girlfriend and his roving eyes have caught Nollywood’s biggest export and sultry actress, Genevieve Nnaji. He wants to be his cub and the Tango with Me star, her cougar! Wizkid , 22, who spoke with BEAT FM’s popular OAP, Toolz in an interview on Ndani TV.com confessed further that he has a crush on 33- year- old Genny and would not mind to date her. Did you call it fantasy; he seems to know why younger men look at older women the other way. Excerpts.
HOW CRAZY HAS THE LAST YEAR BEEN FOR YOU?
Last year has been very crazy for me since I released my album superstar in June 12. The next day I started getting bookings, and since then I have been on the road. Finished my UK tour and right after that, it’s been really crazy but I’m thankful to God and to my fans, you know, they made it happen.
SO I HEARD YOU WERE ACTUALLY BOOKED EVERYDAY ?
Yeah, I had like four shows in one day and did like five sometimes. Every single day, sometimes shows in the morning in Lagos and in the evening in Abuja.

SO LET’S FOCUS ON WHAT HAS BEEN HAPPENING WITH YOU OVER THE PAST MONTHS?
Because I met a lot of people when I was recording with, Akon in L.A.T hey are all my fans. They are my friends; I have their contact that’s to show you how close we are.
SO WHO WAS THE NICEST PERSON, LIKE WHO YOU WORKED WITH WHILE YOU WERE IN THE STATES? I KNOW YOU WORKED WITH AKON, SO WHO ELSE DID YOU WORK WITH?
I did something with Jeezy ,with Game B, Major, Mike Posner. I’m still working, like we haven’t started working just went there to chill because I love being in the studio and anytime I’m in the studio, I’m like trying to record something.
SO WHAT, WHO DID YOU MEET THAT ACTUALLY GOT YOU LIKE “OH MY GOD”
I’m not sure. Inside me, I was actually just cool…..Chris brown, he is a really cool guy. He is extra cool like everybody I have met….
SO IS THERE ANYONE YOU’D LOVE TO SING WITH BUT YOU HAVENT MET YET?

Right now I’m actually single. I have been single for almost a year now.

She was just cool (laughs) she was my girlfriend, Toolz. She’s beautiful, different.
(LAUGHS) WHO BROKE UP WITH WHOM? YOU OR HER?
It was actually her. She broke up with me.
OH?!SHE BROKE YOU UP?
Yeah, she broke my heart. But I’m good now, though I’m strong.
SO IS THERE ANYONE IN THE INDUSTRY, ANY CELEB THAT YOU DON’T ACTUALLY MIND?
(Laughs) Ah! nobody. You know, I wouldn’t want my girlfriend to be into entertainment because I like to keep my life, private.
SO WHAT YOU ARE SAYING NOW IS YOU WOULDN’T DATE ANYONE IN THE INDUSTRY?
No.
OK, IS THERE SOMEBODY YOU REALLY LIKED THAT YOU THOUGHT YOU’D LOVE TO DATE?
Yeah, I really had a crush on Genevieve. Since I was a kid, I used to watch her, and I love her and when I met her through an older uncle, I greeted her, “good evening, ma”
AWW, YOU KILLED THAT CRUSH THEN?
Yeah, I killed it. But you know, I still love her, I still love you, Genevieve.
SO LIKE, HOW OLD ARE YOU? I’m 22.
WELL, YOU CAN STILL DATE GENEVIEVE, IT’S POSSIBLE.
I doubt she’d want to date me. Do you think she’ll date me?
YOU KNOW WHAT I THINK YOU SHOULD DO; I THINK YOU SHOULD SEND A PRIVATE JET. WHEN YOU TRAVEL, SEND A JET TO PICK HER AT HER HOUSE AND TAKE HER TO WHEREVER YOU WANT, JUST FOR DINNER.

NOW IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY, WHO DO YOU LOOK UP TO?
Yeah, definitely 2face, cos’ he has been an inspiration to my music I have been watching him since when I was little and even when I started music actually at OJB’s studio and then OJB used to produce all his materials. I just used to sit around and watch him. He inspires me. I remember when he and Sound Sultan used to come into the studio back then , he is someone I look up to.
AND HAVE YOU GUYS RECORDED TOGETHER?
Yeah, we have done about two songs together. He works with J Sleek and I work with J Sleek too and we tend to fight over J Sleek sometimes (laughs).
SO WHO ARE YOUR FRIENDS IN THE INDUSTRY? WHO ARE YOU CLOSE WITH?
Everybody is my friend. Wande Coal, that’s my brother. Everybody is my man: Wande Coal, D’banj, Don Jazzy, D’Prince, Burma Boy
OK, WHAT ABOUT THE PEOPLE YOU ARE NOT CLOSE WITH? LIKE I HEARD SOMETHING ABOUT YOU AND DAVIDO, IS IT TRUE?
(Laughs) That’s my boy mehn! Come on, no it is not. I think this is just the fans trying to create something.
SO DO YOU THINK IT’S BECAUSE BOTH OF YOU ARE YOUNG?
Yeah, I think so, you know, cos when I came, people were comparing me to Wande and with time, I grew into my own person.
SO, THERE IS A WHOLE LOT BETWEEN YOU AND DAVIDO?
Yeah, a whole lot.
OK, SO WHAT ABOUT OUTSIDE OF MUSIC, ARE THERE ANY PROJECTS YOU ARE WORKING ON?
Yeah, definitely, I’m gonna be going into merchandise very soon.
